“People buy what you believe, not what you sell…” TEd Talk with Simon Sinek

People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it….

But if you don’t know why you do what you do, and people respond to why you do what you do, then how you ever get people to vote for you, or buy something from you, or, more importantly, be loyal and want to be a part of what it is that you do. Again, the goal is not just to sell to people who need what you have; the goal is to sell to people who believe what you believe. The goal is not just to hire people who need a job; it’s to hired people who believe what you believe. I always say that, you know, if you hire people just because they can do a job, they’ll work for your money, but if you hire people who believe what you believe, they’ll work for your you with blood and sweat and tears.”

Being alone is the new “black”.

I really really like this. It does remind me of the “Suncreen” song a little bit but i really think “being alone” is something that more people should learn to be comfortable with.

“It’s okay if no one believes like you. All experience is unique, no one has the same synapses, can’t think like you, for this be releived, keeps things interesting lifes magic things in reach.”

Dehydration party!  Bananas, blueberries, pears!

So ive done The Zone, ive read the Omnivore’s Dilemna, seen Food Inc and Fast Food Nation and its hard to really believe that i used to eat the way i did, and that people still eat the way they do! I guess when you don’t know any better then all you can do is hope and pray that the powers that be are putting the right goods on your plate and on the shelves right? Riiiiiight. Im still not perfect, but am at least aware now and im working to find the right balance.  We are all pretty much captive to the marketing the dairy industry puts into our text books (The food pyramid) and paralyzed by the food distributors and farming industry right? Wrong. Long story short, i never felt better since reading some of the more recent selections from my Amazon Wishlist. Victoria Boutenko’s “12 Steps to Raw Food” opened a whole new chapter and gave me a new perspective… eating raw isn’t just another fad diet, its a way of life.  Ask yourself, “why do i eat?”  Survival? Socially? Emotionally? What function does food really serve? Right, survival.  But the reality is that now that we don’t ONLY have to depend on food for survival, we get to enjoy it with friends socially, for work meetings, for straight up pleasure and so on.  If that is the path that we’ve chosen, then we really need to consider what it is that we are dumping into our systems and thinking about the long term effects and benefits of the goods that we consume. Sure, go eat socially, but maybe think about how you are going to eat socially. And if you’re in an industry and role such as i am, i think you’ll find that it can be a challenge.    Its not impossible, it really just takes a little education, planning and some time.   I may not ever aim to eat raw 100%, but i think that im going to really enjoy it, and any little thing that i can do to treat my body extra special, i think i owe it to myself.

he Empathic Civilization

Check this out, “The Empathic Civilization“. When i was a kid my mom always told me that i was “empathetic”… at the time i didn’t know what that meant and that it would shape who i would become and that it has shaped the world and that it will continue to shape the future, according to Jeremy Rifkin.
